Location...Location...Location...Fort Morgan & On Dune Pond!

I am an ocean lover, sand between my toes kind of girl. The only problem is I live in Oklahoma where there is wide open plains, red dirt and no ocean. Sniff....Sniff....oh and allergies. This summer we will be heading out again to explore a new beach area that we haven't been to yet. No condos. No elevators. Equals less people. We are heading to Fort Morgan, AL which is outside of Gulf Shores and is listed as a historic place on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Okay, that is kind of cool, but isn't all of this world a historic place? I am interested in the white sand and emerald green water. The crashing waves. Seeking sea shells. Chasing crabs. The seafood. Spending time with my family. And most importantly enjoying God's creation.

Do you see those little lines out in the blue water?
At the foot of Alabama? That is where Fort Morgan is, in the Gulf Islands.
Fort Morgan we hear is the perfect place for a quiet and relaxing vacation! It is close to several large cities, but feels so far off the beaten path. The area we are staying in is all "single-family only houses" and is privately owned....by Texans....shhhhhh!

On Dune Pond will be our home for one week.
Fort Morgan was made famous in the Civil War battle for control of Mobile Bay. Union Admiral Farragut brought his fleet past the fort, wandered into a torpedo field, and famously cried "damn the torpedos, full speed ahead", ultimatley winning the three week battle against Admiral Buchanan for control of the fort.

One of the two living areas, lots of window to enjoy the beauty.
We will be surrounded by the Gulf Islands National Seashore, there is a "Shell Beach" - the name says it all! I am hoping to go fishing in Mobile Bay or out in the gulf.

The second living area, both living areas have TVs, DVDs, Wi-Fi Internet,
and a library; they say take a book - leave a book.

Another cozy sectional, but I have a feeling
I will be outside most of the time.

A nice big, open kitchen that is fully stocked with anything we will need.
I know most people don't want to cook on vacation, but I enjoy cooking.

Another view of both living areas.

Master Bedroom with King Bed, walk-in closet and full bath with shower

Another view of the Master Bedroom

Second bedroom, King bed with in room sink/vanity with access to
shared bathroom with twin room.

Another view of second bedroom
Third bedroom is funky and fun.
TV/VCR, In-Room sink/vanity (which will come in handy with a pre-teen),
plus access to shared bath with # 2 bedroom.

Fully equipped half bath and laundry room adjacent to the kitchen.

View of the ocean from the back deck and they have a grill!

View of the ocean from the front deck, can't wait to kick back,
read a book and listen to the crashing waves.

Finally!! The best, open view of God's creation.
We hear that Jimmy Buffet's sister has a local diner called "Lulu's", which is cool because that is the town my grandpa lives in Lulu! There is also the "Little Zoo That Could" from Animal Planet and of course Fort Morgan which is in the shape of a star, I hear. I've always dreamed of living near the ocean, of all places on this planet near the ocean is by far my biggest dream. However, "One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple." (Ps. 27:4)
The family we are renting from has another rental home near by that sleeps as many as 14 people so why don't you come join us?
